What Is B Corp?
The B Corp Certification is a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. This growing global community represents a broad range of industries and sizes comprising of 4,600+ brands (600+ in the UK) including renowned names such as Patagonia, innocent, The Body Shop and Abel & Cole.
Being a B Corp™ means:
- Using business as a force for good
- Never putting profit over people or the planet
This ethos sits directly in line with our mission here at Flexi-Hex – to make sustainability sustainable through innovative and thoughtful design.
Why's it a big deal?
Gaining B Corp status is no easy feat! The B Impact Assessment is the only certification to measure a company’s entire social and environmental impact, looking at everything from supply chain, community work, employee benefits, customer experience and the environment. We are so proud to have achieved an overall impact score of 89.7, bypassing the 80 points needed to qualify and the median score for the average business which is currently 50.9. “To have joined such a reputable community of companies who are building an inclusive and sustainable economy is a huge moment for us. We strongly believe in the power of collaboration and are looking forward to working alongside other inspiring brands to help redefine what a successful business looks like."
But the hard work doesn't stop there. As a B Corp UK, we are committed to continually measuring our impact and finding ways to improve our product and the way we do business so we can become as regenerative as possible.
How do we do this?
- Problem-solving through constant innovation
- Caring about people and planet
- Collaborating with our customers, packaging partners and like-minded brands
- Making better decisions now and for the journey ahead
“B Corp for us is about being accountable. This is a huge badge of honour and it’s just the start of the journey. We see this as a guide that will help inform the strategy we have in place which in turn allows us to the make the very best decisions for people, planet and the journey ahead.”
We are the first to highlight we are not perfect, but by being part of this forward-thinking community, the way we do business will be scrutinised and challenged and therefore held accountable. Over the next year, we will share more details on how we are striving to go a step beyond sustainability. Less: do less harm. More: do more good. We don’t have all the answers yet, but we’ll keep questioning!
